A problem for Modern Warfare 2 players on PC is kicking them out of the open beta, but there’s an easy way to avoid it.
The Modern Warfare 2 Early Access Open Beta went live on Xbox and PC on September 22. Playstation players can also access the beta.
The second and final beta weekend increases the level cap from 15 to 30 and adds two Invasion maps. Modern Warfare 2’s first beta weekend received heavy criticism, targeting minimap changes, perk system overhauls, and glitches.
Infinity Ward has addressed several community concerns, but the latest bug affecting PC gamers adds insult to injury.
Modern Warfare 2’s open beta received mixed reviews over the first weekend.
How to Fix Modern Warfare 2 PC Beta Locking Issue
CharlieINTEL reported an issue with players being kicked out of the beta on PC.
“If you restart your PC, Steam/MWII will again ask you to verify your phone number. However, if you re-enter the same number multiple times, you will be blocked by Steam,” CharlieINTEL said.
To avoid a lockout, do not restart your PC multiple times.
Locking isn’t the only issue faced by PC gamers. Popular Warzone broadcaster Swagg reported crashing issues and claimed to crash six times in the first few hours of PC gameplay.
The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 PC development team has released statements regarding the crashing issue and lockup issues.
Beenox said, “Feel free to change it during the process,” meaning players should change their username to avoid being locked out after entering the same multiple times.
Regarding the crashing issue, the devs said, “if the game requires a restart, be sure to restart it manually.”
We will provide updates if the development team finds a more permanent solution to the locking issue.
